I have a website 99dollarhandyman.net. I recently got an email from someone calling themselves?

"Web Reputation Management" alerting me to negative postings on the Internet about my service. I did a search of my domain name and found that there was a negative posting! This is absolutely a scam, which I have to presume was implemented by those who contacted me offering to clean it up.
There are people out there, specifically posting negative commentary and then offering a service to clean it up.
This is beyond reprehensible. What can I do? What recourse do I have and how can I get these scammers shut down?

First of all you should contact your Web Server and let them know that this is happening, and then ask them what are they doing to clean it up because I’m sure they are well aware this may be happening already. Next call your internet provider and do the same, that way you will have 2 entities working on the problem. ( collectively more than likely) Next I would call the BBB and ask them about this because they are very good at finding out who is who, and again more than likely they already know and may address it for you, providing you or the party in question is a standing member of their organization.

I have heard of these businesses and they are legitimate, (some of them) and work to clean up past problem that may have been brought on by identity theft or attempts. I have been approached several times and I simply spam them and I never hear from them again…………..

  4. It may be legitimate. Not that it is a valid posting or not, but that the company that contacted you may have nothing to do with the actual posting. They are just offering a service.

If you want to investigate, go to the site that has the negative posting on it and find out who posted it or if you can submit a resolution or defend your case or something within the site. Try to get more info as to who made the negative comment. If no information can be provided on that, then perhaps the website with the negative posting will remove it if there is no valid proof to the statement. Worth a try.References :
