Just got scouted by an agent for A&F – a few questions?

I am 20 years old and in the past months I’ve started being asked if I model or if I want to model. I have been asked several times to work at Hollister and Abercrombie stores.

Then I met a "modeling agency" that stopped me in the mall and tried to scam me by making me pay to sign a contract. I got out of that one.

More recently I met a guy who has a local modeling agency and he introduced himself as a scout for Abercrombie & Fitch. He was with one of the models i saw on his website at the time I met him. He gave me his business card and told me to call him.

Looking through his website I found that he has quite a few successful models, a few of them being the face for Abercrombie ads in the past.

(the agency is williams model management in Chapel Hill, NC)

I’m going to interview with him at a nice restaurant. First, I want to make sure I don’t get scammed again. I doubt it because I’ve seen him around the internet and he seems to have a good reputation and his models have appeared in various places.

Second, I am worried because I don’t have a six pack. Everyone always says I’m so lean and I don’t need to lose any weight – but I don’t have a – perfectly – flat stomach like all the local models I saw on his website. I mean, I look pretty good in shorts, but I’m not as perfect in that area as all the other models.

Also, I may be a bit shorter than 5’11. Would that be a problem?

If I don’t get a contract with him – how do I start a career on my own?
It seems like every year I get more and more attractive (I’m not trying to be arrogant, it’s just what I notice in myself – and I was the awkward looking kid in middle school)

with the amount of times I’m starting to be asked if I model – I should give it a shot, no?

you should try it, A&F models are very successful for the most part.
If this turns out to be a scam, then just keep trying

I am SO SICK of the stupid height requirements….. if they call you short…. why does that even matter….. unless you want to be a runway model…. anyway, sorry im blabbing. I’m 5’2 or 5’3 and it was hard for me to get recognized, finally a few months ago it happened :)

so yes, try it out :)

BEST OF LUCK :)

You should google this agency and this guy. Do a little research you know. I know how you feel, you just wanna meet the right people in the industry but it’s so hard because there are so many scams.

Someone once told me that it’s a scam when someone tells you they are scouting for talent or models. Why would they be hunting for talent, when they would be coming to them ya know?References : I am signed with an agency.
